On Monday, July 29, 2024, the Bank of Guyana will be upgrading $500 and $1,000 currency notes

These upgraded banknotes will keep most of the elements of the previous note but with one
significant change to the front of the notes.

Change on the $500 note:
The replacement of the Holographic Stripe at the front of the note with a Rolling Star® Lead
Pure security foil. This 10mm wide micro mirror features a Macaw and shifts from magenta to
green when tilted.

Change on the $1,000 note:
The replacement of the RAPID® micro-optic security feature with RAPID® Vision. This 6mm
wide, brown/ green Vision feature displays a Jaguar with a pulse effect and alternating
movement when tilted.

These new banknotes will be circulated alongside the existing notes of the same denominations.
